An Easy To Read Article About Coil Spring Repair!

Coil Spring Repair

Bellflower Coil Spring Repair

The coil spring is commonly on most modern vehicles, generally smaller vehicles like sedans. Coil spring have a helical appearance and goes around the struts or shocks. Although, on some vehicles, they are mounted individually.

Coil springs come in soft or hard variations, depending their use. As for example, if they are used on a heavy vehicle, the coil spring will be hard to offer maximum support for the large weight. Coil springs go to each wheel, forming a central compression zone. This comes in handy for a smooth Bellflower ride.

Coil springs have been around since the early 1900s, they’re prominence shot up during the ’70s with the change in automobile technology. Today’s springs have many applications due to their versatility. You find them on everything from standard sedans, to sports cars, vans, SUVs, and trucks.

The coil springs function is to support the vehicle at a desired height, to maintain alignment angles and to help absorb road shock transmitted through the tires and shock absorbers.

Continual flexing during normal use will gradually weakens your vehicles suspension system, which in turn allows the car to sag. Once this sag becomes pronounced, the entire vehicle is affected. Steering components are out of position, altering steering linkage geometry. The good new is what has been lost from the original coil spring can be completely repaired by installation of new set of coil springs. This will get your vehicle back to it’s factory correct height.

When to have your springs inspected and or replaced?

We recommend having your vehicles’ coil springs inspected at regular intervals along with your entire suspension system that can include struts, shocks, sway bar links, bushings and more. A quick visual inspection will detect any obvious sag from front to rear or from side to side. Upon visual inspection under your vehicle, we will look for the two ends of the control arms out of level, damaged or worn rubber bumpers and shiny or worn spring coils. All this can indicate weak coil springs. If you also live or often drive your vehicle in a colder climate where roads are often salted in winter weather, you should consider having your steering and suspension system checked more often due o the fact that salt can cause speed up your spring corrosion.

Learn About Car Care With This Advice

auto repair car care

Car Care means exactly what it implies, caring for your car. But what are all these cares and don’t all auto shops maintain the care of my vehicle? Many auto repair shops may be efficient at individual tasks not all shops are equal. For instance, when you bring your vehicle to Orozco’s Auto Service for maintenance, we give your vehicle a 21 point inspection and then make recommendations for your car’s care. Additionally we maintain detailed records of any maintenance or repairs we perform. Another benefit of regular car care is you can prove that your vehicle has been well maintained, and this will pay off when your ready to resell it. Lastly, it’s important to remember that car care can come at a cost, while it’s not always cheap, it can ultimately help you avoid future expensive repairs.

Below are some Car Care tasks you can handle on your own and some you should leave to Orozco’s Auto Service.

Personal Car Care

REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPERS
Windshield wipers usually need to be replaced about once a year due to the diversity of Los Angeles weather, or if the effectiveness of cleaning your windshield is compromised.  One simple trick to check your wipers is use the windshield wiper-washer occasionally to check the effectiveness of your wipers before you’re stuck in the rain.

OIL AND FLUID LEVELS
Every month, or every few gas fill-ups and especially before any longer road trips, it’s a good idea to open the hood of your car and check your fluids. This can include the oil, brake fluid, steering fluid, transmission fluid and coolant levels while the engine is cool. Low levels of either can lead to engine problems if left unchecked. Always refer to your owner’s manual to locate the inspection ports on your specific vehicle.

WAX VEHICLE
Waxing your vehicle every six months after washing it won’t just keep it shiny, it’ll also help to keep both the paint in good shape and help reduce the chance of rust. Many road irritants such as dust, sand, and winter road salt can build up and environmental factors like ozone and ultraviolet light can cause microscopic damage, but waxing can help minimize this by forming a protective seal to extend your paint’s life. Always consult with a professional to determine the best automotive wax for your vehicle.

AIR FILTER
Your engine’s air filter is what regulates air flow into your engine and help keep out debris and dust particulate. When you make certain that your air filter is flowing properly, you can also improve fuel efficiency, decrease your emissions, and help prolong the life of your engine. This can be done easily at home or a service station when you fill your tank, be sure to check your owner’s manual for instructions and how often it needs to be changed.

VEHICLE LIGHTS
The lights on your vehicle aren’t just so you can see at night, they are also an import part of driving safely in day or night. Unfortunately, it’s a simple function of your vehicle that can be easily overlooked. Once a month, turn on your headlights when the vehicle parked in front of a flat surface and check that both headlights are working properly and well-positioned. Then walk around your vehicle and visually inspect both turn signals and your parking lights. Have a friend stand behind the car while you engage the brakes to be certain that your brake lights are functional. If you’re on your own you can always back close to a flat surface as stated before in reverse and see through your rear view mirrors if they are working.

TIRE PRESSURE
Now days with todays gas prices it’s more important that ever to have well-maintained tires that are not only safe but also fuel-efficient, make it a habit to visually inspect your tires often. Check your tire pressure every month, and before long trips or carrying an extra load. Don’t forget the spare. Always keep a tire pressure gauge in the vehicle, it will be needed to check your tire pressure. Also, during the colder months, note that tire pressure drops one pound with every 10 degree decrease in pressure. Your owner’s manual will tell you how much air pressure your tire needs.

OIL & FILTER
The motor oil in your vehicle’s maintains several functions that include: lubricating moving parts, acting as a sealant against debris, helps cools the engine, reduces wear and tear, and helps prevent engine corrosion. Keeping your engine clean is vital for your engine’s good health. Depending on your vehicle and what kind of oil you use, you may need to change both the oil & oil filter every 3 months or 3000 miles. Many newer vehicles’ owners’ manuals will recommend changing your oil less frequently if they are using a synthetic or a synthetic bend oil – often in-between 5,000 and 10,000 miles. Check your vehicle owner’s manual and consult with a Orozco’s Auto Service professional to be certain what is appropriate for your vehicle.

TIRE ROTATION
Depending on your vehicle usage, alignment, and several other factors, the tread wear patterns on your tires may vary between the front and back tires, or even from one side of the tread to the other. Rotating your tires will extend the service life of your tires by more evenly balancing the tread wear, and helping prevent noise and vibration problems.

TRANSMISSION FLUID
A lot like the oil in your engine, transmission fluid is a lubricant that helps keep all of the moving parts inside of your transmission functioning properly. Whether you’re driving an automatic or manual transmission vehicle, it is essential that you have your transmission fluid checked and changed when necessary to avoid costly transmission damage or even a replacement. Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

TRANSFER CASE FLUID
In four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles, the transfer case is what shifts power from the transmission to the axles. You should have your transfer case fluid checked according to your vehicle’s manufacturer recommendations to be certain that it is properly filled and leak-free. This requires getting under the vehicle, so bringing it into Orozco’s Auto Service or an equivalent professional is recommended.

INSPECT SHOCKS AND STRUTS
The shocks and struts on your vehicle function to control the impact and rebound as your vehicle moves over bumps in the road and is an essential part of your vehicle’s suspension system. They should be inspected by a professional every 50,000 miles or bring your car into Orozco’s Auto Service if you notice a decrease in smoothness or loss of control when driving.

COOLANT FLUID EXCHANGE
The radiator in your car is a critical component that helps keep your engine cool and working properly. You should regularly have your coolant system flushed, it will help get rid of contaminants that can build up inside as well as ensure that your radiator is filled to the proper level. Always check your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation to find out how often your coolant should be changed.

SPARK PLUGS
Spark plugs ignite the gas and air mixture in your engine that ultimately powers your vehicle . If one or more of your spark plugs aren’t functioning properly, your engine will lose power and won’t run at optimal capacity. Have a professional check and replace any faulty spark plugs depending on the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations or if you feel a decrease in your engine’s power.

SERPENTINE BELT
Although it may seem like a simple piece of rubber, your vehicle’s serpentine belt is essential to keeping your car running by powering peripheral devices such as your alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioner compressor. A simple visually inspection of the belt to ensure that it is free of cracks or other wear and tear. Replace id damaged or according to your vehicle manufacture’s recommendation.

FRONT AND/OR REAR DIFFERENTIAL
The differentials are devices that split the torque or power from the engine and allow it to send the proper amount of power to the tires. In front or rear-wheel drive vehicles, there is only one differential, but in 4-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles, there is both a front and rear differentials, and possibly even a center differential. Like many parts of your vehicle, differentials need to be kept lubricated to ensure reliable functionality. Have a professional check and change fluid whenever your vehicle manufacturer recommends it.

BATTERY CHECK
Batteries are one of the most important components for your vehicle. Car batteries supplies large amounts of electrical current for the starter, engine and other electronic accessories in the vehicle. Extreme temperatures in our desert can affect the performance of your batteries life so regular battery testing will ensure that battery will perform at it’s best.

CHANGE TIRES
Tire wear can depend greatly on driving habits, the function of the vehicle, maintenance, and the road surfaces you regularly drive on. Realizing when you need new tires may be a little tricky for some. They’re curious to know if they absolutely need to replace their tires. There’s a simple answer to all of these kinds of questions; a new set of quality tires will alleviate the stress of worrying about the safety and performance of the tires you have right now. One simple test is to place a penny between the tread grooves with the top of Lincoln’s head nearest to the tire. If you can see any space above the top of the head, it’s a good time to replace your tires. If you feel you need new tires for any reason stop into Orozco’s Auto Service for a complete inspection.

Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you! If you believe your vehicle needs service or are not sure and would like to have your vehicle diagnosed, contact Orozco’s Auto Service.

Car Repair Tips To Consider

Engine Repair Near Me

Drivers in Bellflower know that if you want your car to last, you need to maintain it. But when we asked Bellflower drivers what they need to do to make their cars last longer, their answers were lets say, light on details. For instance, the most common answer was getting your oil changed, but with a follow up question of regarding how often you should get your oil changed people were a bit less informed. Additionally, that was pretty much the same when asked about their belts and hoses, batteries, coolant fluid, windshield wipers, and so on.

So to help clear up some of the misinformation out there and help you keep your vehicle running as long as possible, here are a some fact from your friends at family owned Orozco’s Auto Service.

Get Regular Oil Changes

Forgetting to get your oil changed is one of the worst and possibly most costly services to neglect. Oil is the blood of your cars engine and needs to stay healthy. It’s better to spend a few dollars now, than to put it off and risk seizing your engine. If you use Standard oil it should be changed every 3,000 miles or 6 months and synthetic oil is every 6,000 miles or 18 months.

Maintenance Tip: Always consult your owners manual for the manufacturers recommendations on changing your oil.

Keep Your Battery & Battery Terminals Clean

If neglected your battery and batteries terminals can begin to show signs of corrosion, this shows as a white powdery substance on the battery terminals. If you don’t keep them clean, your battery can start to malfunction, and possibly leave you stranded. Today like everything else, car batteries can be pretty expensive and the luxury brand cars are even more. Investing in a wire brush and keeping the terminals clean is time and money well spent.

Maintenance Tip: Visit Orozco’s Auto Service for a battery check every 6 months.

Air Filter Replacement

Your car’s air filters (one in the engine compartment and another (cabin filter) that is generally behind the glove box helps keep pollutants and dust from entering your engine and in through the vents. The air filters have a very important job, so you want to keep them maintained. Additionally, using an old air filter past its life can lead to some major problems for your AC system. Something nobody want to deal with when it’s completely preventable.

Maintenance Tip: You should get your air filters inspected regularly and changed every 12 months or 12,000 mile, sometimes more often in a dry dusty climate.

Windshield Wipers Replacement

Bellflower summers can he hot and that means you should regularly check your windshield wipers. If you discover you need new wipers the cost of new ones can vary. We recommend checking your wipers at least twice a year so you’re not caught in a sudden rain, be it a summer downpour or a winter storm. Obviously, a dirty windshield or worn out wipers can significantly hamper your view not only endangers you and your passengers but also the people around you.

Maintenance Tip: Use your windshield wiper’s window cleaning function regularly to stay up-to-date on your windshield wipers effectives.

Get Your Tires Rotated

You can extend the life of your tires by getting them rotated regularly? All four tires on your car do not wear down at the same rate and switching them around will help them to wear more evenly. The front or back set of tires can wear down at different rates depending on your vehicle, your speed and roads conditions. Maintaining to rotate your tires can extend their life and keep you and you family safe longer.

Maintenance Tip: Rotate your tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or per your manufacturers recommendations.

Suspension System Inspection

Your suspension system is an intricate part of your vehicle that most people rarely think about, until it stops working and leaving you stranded. One of the key elements of your vehicle’s suspension is the shocks and struts, these help maintain a smooth ride, and ignoring this issue can  prematurely wear out your tires not to mention causing a very uncomfortable ride.

Maintenance Tip: Have your full suspension system checked every 15,000 to 30,000 miles.

Check Your Coolant Level

A very important element of your vehicles cooling system is the coolant and should always be maintained at a full level. If your coolant gets to low your vehicle can overheat and do some serious damage to your engine. Your coolant affects so many elements of you car from air conditioner to the heater, radiator and water pump and more. Something that impacts that much of your car’s overall health should never be neglected.

Maintenance Tip: Regularly check your coolant level whenever you get gas or are preparing for a long trip.

Check Your Spare Tire

The only thing worse than getting a flat tire is finding out the spare tire is low on air of flat. Forcing you to call a tow truck—which not only can take several hours out of your day or night, it can also cost you a lot of money depending on where your tire blew out.

Maintenance Tip: Always check your tires air pressure, including the spare at least once a month. Maintaining the appropriate air pressure will also help your gas mileage.

Belts and Hoses

At least once a year perform a visual inspection on your belts and hoses. If worn belts and hoses fail they can cause damage to essential components of your engine including but not limited to your cooling system, heater, air conditioner and more. And for those hard to get to belts and hoses feel free to stop by any Orozco’s Auto Service and we will be happy to check them out.

Maintenance Tip: Always follow your vehicles manufacturer’s recommendations for replacing your timing belt and serpentine belt. These are both critical to your engines health and a failure of these components can lead to critical failure in your engine.

Advice For Dealing With Brake Repair

brake repair

Bellflower Brake Repair

Brake repair should never be neglected. One of your vehicles most important elements besides your engine are the brakes. Your engine will make your vehicle go but your brakes allow you stop. Unfortunately, most Bellflower drivers don’t really think much about their brakes, until they stop working which can lead to a serious accident. To help avoid that scary thought we would like to share some of the signs that it’s time to get your brakes inspected. For example, one of the most common failures of your brake are the brake pads. If they are routinely checked you can get them replaced before they cause more serious damage to your vehicle.

Most newer vehicles, the front wheels braking apparatus depend on the rotors: large metal discs mounted behind each wheel. Above each rotor is a clamping device called the caliper. When you apply pressure on the brake pedal, your calipers start to close, squeezing the rotors from both sides. This action creates friction, which as a result slows your vehicle until it comes to a full stop safely.

The brake pads, per their name are pads that are mounted inside the calipers to make contact with the rotors during the previously mentioned process. Unfortunately, brake pads don’t last forever. Additionally, the friction stopping process will eventfully wear down the pads. Also, depending on your driving habits and freeway versus city can also take a toll on them, making them wear out even quicker. When your brake pads get too thin your they won’t work as well as they should, you may need brake repair and that’s when to visit or schedule a free appointment with the Experts at Orozco’s Auto Service.

Tips for possible brake problems:

Clicking noises
Some vehicles, brake pads fit snugly into a special holding device. Other vehicles keep them steady with pins, clips or bolts. The common goal behind these designs is to keep the brake pads from wobbling. If they become loose, they will begin to rattle. What happens next is a clicking sound that rings out when the brake pedal is pushed or released.

Vibrations when the brake is pressed
If your brake pedal shakes whenever you step on it your brake pads may be the problem. Brake pads are typically held together with a binding resin. As each brake pad wears down, this adhesive gets hot and can get smeared across the rotor. Under the best of  circumstances, it will form a layer that’s evenly spread over the disc’s surface. But if a brake pad gets overheated, the resin may not be distributed uniformly. This is called this issue “glazing” and it can cause brake pedals to vibrate.

Your car pulls to one side when braking
Brake pads don’t always wear out at the same rate. Depending on your daily Long Beach commute, following the same turns day after day can result in uneven wear. Should this occur, your vehicle may pull slightly to one side or the other when you use the brakes. Leaving this problem unchecked can put unnecessary stress on your vehicles suspension like the ball joints, steering knuckles, wheel bearings and more.

Screeching noises
Most brake pads are built with “wear indicators.” Wear indicators are small metal tabs located near the top of typical brake pads. When the brake pad wears down an unsafe level, the indicator will scrape against the rotor. This creates a distinctive grating noise which warns drivers that the brake pads are in immediate need of service. If you ignore this to long the pads can completely wear our forcing your vehicle to stop with metal grinding on metal that will destroy your rotors and lead to complete brake failure.

Stopping takes longer than it used to
This is called “brake fade.” This is usually a result of applying the brakes over a vast distance without bringing the car to a full stop. Sometime this can be a bad driving habit know as ridding the brake, some people are overly cautious which can wear on your brakes. This can also happen while driving down a mountainside or over winding roads. However, if you live in an area will lots of hills you ridding the brakes may not be avoidable—but, over time it will take a toll on your braking system.

If your vehicle has any of the above signs or you feel your vehicle’s brake system needs service or are not sure and would like to have your brakes inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower today at (562) 920-1871. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Bellflower Tire Sales Near Me Info

Bellflower Tire Sales Near Me

Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower specializes in new tire sales for all types of vehicles. Whether you drive a car, truck, sports car or SUV we’ve got your tires. We offer competitive prices and the quality of our products are never compromised. We offer a huge variety tires of top brands like NEXEN, B.F. Goodrich, Hankook, Pirelli, Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Toyo and other numerous unparalleled brands in the market.

Many of Bellflower drivers choose to replace worn OEM (original equipment manufacturer) tires with aftermarket tires, whether it is in the interest of saving money or changing vehicle performance traits. If you decide to change tires, our certified service advisors should be able to suggest alternative models that fit your needs.

If you were happy with the performance of your old tires, you can of course replace them with the same model. Most auto companies spend thousands of dollars in research and development and work with tire makers to choose the tires that best suit their vehicles, but OEM tires can be much more expensive than aftermarket ones, especially when you get them through the dealership.

If you’re thinking about trying a different type of tire, you should choose one that best matches your driving habits, preferences, and local road conditions. “Touring” tires may provide a smoother ride, but performance may slightly suffer. On the other hand, high performance tires may enable you to turn, stop, and accelerate quicker but can be a noisier ride and cause a less comfortable ride. All-season tires can provide passable performance in most conditions, but will be heavily out performed by dedicated “summer” or winter tires, and lastly “economy” tires may be cheap and noisy with mediocre performance but are what works for you’re budget. Used tires are never recommended, but if your budget or untimely lose of a tire only allows for used tires make sure to check that they are still safe for use.

How do you know when you should get your vehicle new tires? Always pay attention to your vehicle’s performance, tire tread depth, and the age of your tires. A general rule is that if a tire is more than six years old, even if they look new and have never been driven on, they should be inspected thoroughly before use. The tires rubber can become brittle as it ages and this can lead to tire failure or loss of performance. As a consumer, you have the right to demand newer tires if you are buying them from a retailer. To determine the date of a tire’s manufacture, look for a series on the sidewall that begins with “DOT”. The last four numbers in this sequence will tell you the week and year that a tire was made. For example, 1822 means that the tire was made in the 18th week of 2022.

We recommend that you start shopping for new tires when your tread wears to 4/32 of an inch. This is just enough tread to sluice away water and keep your tires in contact with the road. The most common tread depth on new tires is 10/32 of an inch. The legal minimum in most states is 2/32 of an inch.

The Tire Tread Quarter Test. A Washington quarter, placed upside down in the tread grooves at several points, is a helpful gauge in determining a safe tread depth. From the coin edge to the top of Washington’s head is 4/32 inch.

The Tire Tread Penny Test. To be legal in most states, your tires must pass the Lincoln penny test. From the coin edge to the top of Lincoln’s head is 2/32 inch.

Wear Bars. Manufacturer’s place wear bars in the grooves between tire treads. Replace your tires before the tread wears flush with the bars.
Even on dry pavement, it takes longer to stop with bald tires. On wet pavement, you may not be able to avoid a hazard in time.

Taking Care of Your New Tires

Always keep your tires inflated to the correct pressure. Your vehicle won’t handle well if your cars are too soft or too hard. Under or over inflation can even cause a blowout. Consult your owner’s manual or check the vehicle placard for the specified PSI (pounds per square inch) for your tires. (See Tire Size above.) Properly inflated wear tires wear evenly and can help you get up to 3% better gas mileage.

Periodic alignment checks and suspension checks. Even under the best conditions your wheels will move slightly out of alignment over time. This can result in them fighting for control over each other, reduce fuel efficiency, and cause premature tread wear. And worn shocks, struts, and other suspension components can also effect the life of your tire.

Rotate your tires. This helps ensure that your tires wear evenly. Most tire manufacturers recommend a 6,000-8,000 mile interval. It’s great way to remember to rotate your tires is have it done when you’re in for an oil change.

Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you! If you believe your tire are worn out or are not sure and would like to have them checked, contact Orozco’s Auto Service.

A/C system isn’t as cold as it used to be. A/C losing its frigidity can be caused by a number of reasons, including a Freon leak caused by a loose seal, gasket, hose, or component, a clogged hose or tube, a failed compressor or component, a failed blower motor, a damaged or failed condenser or evaporator, vacuum leaks, or a failed switch, relay, fuse, or solenoid. A leak in the A/C system can end up compromising the entire system. If you or your mechanic discovers the leak early, then it most likely will not have damaged as many parts, and your repair will not be as expensive.

Weak airflow. One of the main causes for weak airflow can be mold or mildew accumulating in the evaporator core from moisture or condensation from regular operation, a hose coming loose and decreasing air pressure, ventilation fan failure, or seals coming loose and diminishing airflow.

Wow, Timing Belt Repair Near Me

Serpentine Belt Replacement

Your vehicle’s timing belt is the one of your engines components that failure could mean it’s time for a new engine. This because if your timing belt wears out your complete engine can seize up immediately. Luckily Orozco’s Auto Service can help you prevent this type of disaster with some simple maintenance and or replacing your timing belt.

Timing Belt Repair and What is it?

In essence, the timing belt or timing chain keeps the top half of your engine (valves) synced to the bottom half (crankshaft). Simple put, the timing belt is a ribbed belt that is run in a specific setup on one side of a vehicle’s engine to keep the crankshaft and camshafts timed properly. Many vehicles today have a timing chain that is more reliable but still needs replacing eventually. Most older vehicle run with a timing belt, the best way to determine if your vehicle has a timing belt or a chain is to refer to the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual or stop by Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower and one of our ASE trained Service Advisors can look it up for you. Generally  manufacturer’s recommend a maintenance schedule for timing belt replacement differs between vehicles, most timing belts should be replaced every 60,000 miles or 5 years – whichever comes sooner.

There are two types of engine timing configurations that employ timing belts: interference and non-interference. An interference engine means that the valve’s stroke and piston’s stroke occupy the same space in the cylinder at different times, so the timing belt keeps them from colliding with each other. If the timing belt snaps, the cylinder and valves will most likely hit each other, which most commonly causes bent valves but can also result in cylinder head or camshaft damage, and possibly piston and cylinder wall damage. It is possible to get lucky and not suffer any damage from a snapped timing belt on an interference engine, but very unlikely. On a non-interference engine, pistons and valves never occupy the same space, so if the timing belt snaps, no valve or cylinder damage should occur, and theoretically, replacing the broken timing belt will revert your engine to normal function.

Changing your vehicle’s timing belt is not an easy job to do on your own, it’s not just a simple task like changing your oil. if you do it wrong, especially on an interference-type engine, can result in much more severe and expensive damage. At Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower our certified ASE trained technicians have the experience to replace all types of timing belts and timing chains on all makes and models. Additionally, all of our work is also back by a NAPA nationwide 2 year, 24,000 warranty and mile for a nominal fee can easily be extended to 3 years and 36,000. Also we know that there’s never a convenient time for a large repair, and that’s why we offer easy financing (OAC) to help get you back on the road as soon as possible.

If your vehicle is ready for Timing Belt Repair or are not sure and would like to have it diagnosed, contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower today at 562-920-1871. Remember always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

What You Need To Know About Diesel Repair

Diesel Repair

Bellflower Diesel Engine Repair

Imagine getting into your diesel car to start down Alondra Blvd. and notice excessive smoke extruding from your vehicle or your engine is suddenly making more noise than a broken header. These are just a couple of signs that indicate it may be time for some diesel engine repair. Although diesel engines are a very durable and reliable engine, but unfortunately like like most machines they still break down eventually. With that being said and if you are looking for a reliable and affordable diesel engine technician, try Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower. We know diesel engine repair for all makes and models. Below are a few more signs that you may have problems with your diesel engine. Stalling engine, lower running RPMs, acceleration issues, engine is difficult to start, electrical problems and more.

Orozco’s Auto Service also offers many maintenance services like “Diesel Induction Service”. A fuel induction service that is typically not part of the mileage-based maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual. Although, it should still be part of your vehicle’s maintenance routine. We recommend it every 60,000 miles or whenever you notice performance issues. Typically, diesel fuel will oxidize and form residues that deposit in fuel injectors and combustion chambers. These deposits will drastically affect the engines performance by clogging fuel injectors and creating irregular spray patterns. This service is designed for concentrated cleaning of the injection pump and injectors.

As highly-skilled ASE technicians, we take pride in diagnosing any diesel engine problem and providing affordable repairs. We know these types of engines inside and out. Since we are skilled at repairing all types of problems, you can trust our technicians to ensure the repair job is done right the first time. It takes more than the right tools to repair a diesel engine. Unlike standard gasoline engines, diesel engine systems use their own compression to ignite fuel. They have significantly more compression in the chamber than gas-powered engines. This means that the air-to-gas mixture is very different as well. Due to the extreme compression, external sparking is not necessary. Built without spark plugs, a diesel engine runs more efficiently using glow plugs. Many of the new models can go for 500,000 miles without the need for a rebuild. At the first sign of any problem, it’s important to bring your vehicle to Orozco’s for diesel engine repair.

Lets Talk About Brake Pads

Brake Pads

Bellflower Brake Pads Replacement

Drivers in Bellflower are always asking “what is one of the most important components of my vehicle?” They are the brakes of course, in particularly, the brake pads. These are the components that makes your vehicle stop. They’re also one of the components that when they wear out over time can be a major safety risk. This is because we all know what it means if you can’t stop when you need to. The reason that they wear out is due to the fact that they use friction to help you stop.  Sadly, all that friction eventually takes a toll on your brakes and over time is shows. Brake pads are made up of materials engineered to slow your vehicle without destroying the brake pad and brake disc each time contact is made. Brake pads used to be made of asbestos. Several years ago asbestos was discovered to be a carcinogen and associated with causing certain cancers and eventually fazed out of production. Over the years auto manufacturers have engineered several materials for making brake pads. These are organic, semi-metallic and ceramic.

Organic –  Organic brake pads made from materials like rubber, glass, and Kevlar too their place. They are softer than other brake pads, which makes for a quieter function. Thus they wear more sooner and create more dust and debris as they wear down. Moreover because these pads are softer, they don’t offer as much stopping power. Organic pads are generally suited for light cars that don’t see heavy use.

Semi-Metallic – Semi-metallic pads, sometimes referred to as metallic pads, are much more sturdy. As per they’re named they are made from metal, such as iron shavings or bits of steel wire held together with graphite. Metal usually makes up about 30 to 65 percent of the brake pad, thus the name “semi-metallic”. Because metallic brake rotors are hard, they provide good stopping power, but they put more wear on brake rotors / discs. The hard pads also noisier than organic pads.

One of the cons are metallic brake pads need to warm up before they work at their best. In very cold weather, they can take longer to get their maximum efficiency, so caution is always advised until your vehicle is fully warmed up. Metallic pads are a good product at a reasonable price, and provide good stopping power under normal driving conditions.

Ceramic – Ceramic brake pads are even more durable. They are made of ceramic materials, sometimes with small amounts of copper. The ceramics dissipate heat well, which keeps them from wearing. That can mean that the rotors take on more heat though, which can lead to rotor warping. Ceramic pads are also more expensive. Ceramic pads are also lighter, which, paired with their heat resistance, makes them well suited to motorsport or aggressive driving. They also produce the least brake dust of any type of brake pads, and less noise than semi-metallic pads.

How often should you have your brakes checked

There are a few ways to tell if you need brake service. Some vehicle’s have brake-pad sensors that let the driver when the brakes should be checked via a warning light on the dash or a message showing when you start your vehicle. Some brake systems have a metal scraper attached to the pads that creates a warning alarm by squealing or screeching when they wear to a certain level. Even though the sound is very disconcerting and annoying it’s usually harmless, unless ignored. If the noise is less of a screech and more of a grumbling, grinding sound, the pads at one or all of the wheels may be completely worn, and continued use of your vehicle can cause serious damage to the rotor(s). If you hear grinding when slowing down you should contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower ASAP. You should never wait to replace the brake pads for weeks or months after the first warning signs, considering functional brakes are a top priority. From a safety standpoint, they are more important than the engine. Due to the fact, a poorly maintained engine could result in engine failure. But poorly maintained brakes can be life-threatening.

To be sure that your vehicle is always able to make the safest stops, we recommend changing the brakes before they exhibit the irregularities mentioned above. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual should have recommendations for inspecting the pads at every oil change because the life of brake-pad can vary greatly, depending on your driving style, whether and driving conditions. Brake pads should always be replaced when they reach their service limit, which is usually measured at about 0.1 inch.

If your vehicle is showing any of the above signs or you believe your vehicle’s needs new brake or are not sure and would like to have your brakes inspected, call Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower today at 562-920-1871.  Always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Power Seat Repair For Your Car and You

Power Seat Repair

Bellflower Automotive Power Seat Repair

Power Seat Repair – When you’re cruising down Alondra Blvd. in you vehicle, you want to look good and be comfortable – and in today’s high tech vehicles that comfort comes in the shape of a luxury power seat.  Today’s vehicles are equipped with elaborate power seats that do a lot more than keeping your feet on the peddles. They automatically move in a many directions satisfying drivers every ergonomics need, including a seat warmer. So lets take a look at some of the mechanics of those fancy seats. When you press the power seat controls the power seat triggers motors which then moves your seat forward, backwards, adjusts lumbar support and heated seats just to name a few of the many comfort options. Including allowing you to find the optimal placement of your seat, so that the peddles are the right where you need them.

Now for the bad news. With all those electronic options, power seats and their controls have a greater chance of failing than the older manual controlled seats. When that power seat switch fails, the seats can’t move, and you won’t be able to control the placement of your seat. While this may not be a serious problem – you may not be able to see well or operate your vehicle if you can’t reach the peddles rendering your vehicle undrivable. Power seat switches are usually located on the seat or door panel. Those switches send power to the seat motors, allowing you to move your seat in several directions. If the switch malfunctions, then the seat may no longer move, or its movement may be limited. Also,  it’s common for debris to get stuck in the tracks, preventing the seat from moving. However, if cleaning the debris doesn’t resolve the problem, your seat or switches may need to be repaired or replaced. If the switches are working and there is no debris, but your seat still does not move, you may have a malfunctioning power seat motor or a short in one of the wires going to the switch or motor. Something that only an ASE certified technician can handle, just like the technicians employed at Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton!

The majority of the time to repair power seats, they must first be removed, then the motors, and then the switches and wiring need to be inspected. Once the source of the problem is found, it must be repaired or replaced, then everything must be reassembled & thoroughly tested.

If your vehicle’s power seat is malfunctioning or moving unusually slowly, or If you have questions regarding Power Seat Repair contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Fullerton today at 562-920-1871. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Rear Differential Repair or Replace?

Rear Differential Repair

Bellflower Rear Differential Repair

If your differential isn’t working properly, there are several signs you may notice before it completely fails. Tire damage on the sidewall or outer tread of a tire, your car may becomes difficult to handle and doesn’t easily steer around corners well, the sound of grinding gears or a whining noise are also indicators that you should have your differential checked. Luckily, Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower has the know how to repair or replace this critical component of your vehicle. Our ASE certified technicians can repair your differential or transaxle in no time and back up that repair with a NAPA nationwide 2 year, 24,000 mile warrant.

But what is a rear differential? Well. many Bellflower drivers aren’t aware of their vehicles differential until something goes seriously wrong. Not to worry, Orozco’s Auto Service would like to share some helpful information regarding your vehicle’s differential. Years ago before front wheel drive came along, the majority of vehicles had a rear differential with a few exceptions such as Corvairs and Volkswagens. Four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles also have different types of differentials. Nowadays and as before every vehicle has a some type of differential or transaxle, whether you have a rear one or not depends on the drive system. So what is a differential and how does it impact my vehicle?

If your vehicle has front-wheel drive, then it uses a front differential that is next to the transmission in a unit called the transaxle. A vehicle with rear-wheel drive has a rear differential that sits between the rear wheels and connects to the transmission through the drive shaft. Both front and rear differentials do the same thing, which is ensuring the your wheels move smoothly when you move around corners— just from different locations. But why does it smooth out your turns you ask? Simply put, a differential is a system that transmits your engine’s torque to the wheels. The differential takes the power from the engine and divides it, allowing the wheels to spin at different speeds when needed. Think of it as a marching band moving around a corner. The people on the outside of the turn take longer strides than the people on the inside to keep everyone in a perfect line. A differential acts in the same way for a car. It compensates for how the inner wheels don’t have to travel as far to get around a corner as the outer wheels.

As previously mentioned, four wheel drive vehicles have two differentials making things a bit different on these all terrane vehicles. Additionally all-wheel-drive vehicle has a third type of differential called a center differential. It helps distribute power between the front and rear axles since both do the job of steering your car. With four-wheel drive, there is a front and rear differential that’s called a transfer case located in the middle to manage and deliver power to all four wheels. These systems have the same goal as the others: ensuring smooth turns keeping the wheels from skipping or jumping.

If you’ve notice any of the previously mentioned signs of a failing differential, or If you would like to have your vehicle inspected, contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower today at 562-920-1871. Keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

When it’s time for Fuel Pump Repair

fuel pump repair

Bellflower Fuel Pump Repair

Fuel pump repair can be a real challenge due to the fact that in most vehicles it’s located inside the gas tank. The good news is that Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower is just around the corner and ready to help you out with any of your fuel injection issues, including sharing this valuable information. Your vehicle’s fuel pump is the heartbeat of your vehicle’s fuel system. Like your heart pumping blood throughout your body, the fuel pump sends precious fuel through your vehicle and if it stops so will your engine. Luckily, a faulty fuel pump isn’t very common in newer vehicles but when you get a few years worth of miles on your odometer things start to wear out.

As previously mentioned, most fuel pumps are located inside the gas tank and attaches to a float and electrical connections that relay information to your vehicle’s fuel gage. It sucks up the fuel and sends it through lines to your engine’s injectors, which meter out the proper amount of fuel for the most efficient combustion in your engine. Today’s fuel pumps meet manufacturer specifications for fuel volume. If it doesn’t meet up to these strict standards, you will run into all sorts of problems.

If your fuel pump is starting to wear out there are a few common signs you’ll notice before getting stranded. Some of the more obvious signs are your vehicle can suddenly feels sluggish or a faulty ignition, engine misfires, lowered gas mileage, weak acceleration and a whining noise can all mean you may want to visit Orozco’s Auto Service.

Other issues may be low fuel pressure, you may have trouble starting your vehicle. It may crank longer than normal before firing up, or you might have to cycle the ignition on and off a few times to prime the necessary pressure. Once it starts, you might get a rough idle or stuttering while driving up hills or upon acceleration. On some occasions it may misfires or even just stall out and die completely.

Another sign may be that your engine temperature is higher than usual, as it struggles to keep up with uneven fuel supply. Occasionally, a failing pump will cause an engine to surge, because it’s no longer capable of consistent volume. You might hear the fuel pump itself struggling, which sounds like a whining or loud buzzing noise coming from your gas tank. Lastly, you may notice at the gas station when filling your tank: a failing fuel pump can reduce engine efficiency, which means your decrease mileage, something nobody wants these days.

Note that most of the above symptoms on their own might have other causes, but if you see one or more together, then it’s time to contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower for a conclusive diagnosis today at 562-920-1871 or stop by. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Some Tips To Help You Replace Spark Plugs

Replace Spark Plugs

Replace Spark Plugs in Bellflower

Not a lot of Bellflower drivers are aware of the importance’s of their spark plugs. They are the spark that enables your vehicle to run and when they begin to go bad, it can affect your entire vehicle. If your vehicle is feeling a bit sluggish or your mileage isn’t what it used to be and then you remember in the morning when you started your vehicle it took a few attempts. Sorry to say but these are all signs that it may be time for new spark plugs and if ignored for to long you may not be able to start your vehicle. At Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower our certified ASE mechanics are more than qualified to determine if these problems are indeed worn out spark plugs.

What exactly is a spark plug you ask? Simple put- it’s an insulator and a central conductor. Spark plugs are specified by size, specifically by nut or thread — sealing type and spark gap. The majority of today’s vehicles have a 14-mm thread; older vehicles had used 18-mm or 7/8-inch (approximately 22-mm) ones. Thread length varies as well, depending on the vehicle manufacturer and type of engine. The sealing type or seat is where the plug mates to the head. It can be flat or tapered again, depending on the manufacturer and engine type. Additionally, the amount of torque applied during installation ensures a secure fit. Typically, there is one plug for each cylinder, but there are exceptions. For example, the V8 Hemi engines used in various Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler products have 16 plugs, two per cylinder.

These days, spark plugs last much longer than vehicles of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, with some lasting up to 100,000 miles. Back in the day most vehicles required a tune-up once a year to replace spark plugs and adjust points. Even with today’s high-tech spark plugs still wear out, and if you’re finding it difficult to start your vehicle, it could mean that your spark plugs have met the end of their life. Visual clues may also reveal a bad spark plug. If you remove the plug from the cylinder and notice that the end has burned or sandy-looking deposits have accumulated on the outer electrode, then it’s time to replace it. In a worst-case scenario, a wet accumulation of oil on the electrode may indicate not only that the spark plug is bad but also that there’s significant engine problem.

Other troubling issues you may notice are a rough idle, engine misfire or surge, weak acceleration or a spike in fuel consumption. In some vehicles the “check engine” light may come on. If your “check engine” light comes on feel free to visit Orozco’s Auto Service to get your vehicle’s check engine light diagnosed.

Changing spark plugs is a key part of keeping your engine in good working order. Be sure to get yours replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals to ensure peak engine performance. You can find this information in your vehicles user manual. If you feel your vehicle may need new spark plugs or would like to have your vehicle diagnosed contact Orozco’s Auto Service of Bellflower today at 562-920-1871. Remember to always keep your vehicle in good running condition and ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you!

Auto Repair Tips – Always Replace Worn Out Engine Hoses

TIP! Make sure you often check the radiator. Warm up your car a little, shut if back off and pop the hood.

All car owners are aware of what a hassle it is to get repairs. You either have to spend a lot of time trying to fix your problems yourself, or you have to deal with the hassle of taking your car to a mechanic. Neither way is especially pleasant, but reading this article will make the experience better for you.

TIP! Get your car washed often to keep rust at bay. Cars eventually rust, but you can put off the process by washing off chemicals or salt quickly.

Inquire as to whether the mechanic has had previous experience working on your specific vehicle model before. A mechanic who has experience with the make and model you are driving will be able to diagnose issues quickly.

TIP! Every time you’re going to have an automobile repaired, you have to get a record of what is done to it. If you have more problems later, other mechanics can decipher why.

Get your car washed often to keep rust at bay. Although all cars rust at some point in time, it is possible to delay this from occurring by washing off salt and chemicals immediately. Using a wax will protect the paint job significantly.

TIP! You should always test drive your vehicle after getting some repairs done on it. This way you can avoid paying for repairs that were not finished correctly.

Get to know your owner’s manual, or take the time to note important information. This can help prevent a trip to the auto shop if you can fix the issue yourself. What you think may be an issue, may not be at all according to the manual.

TIP! Do not let mechanics do repairs that are not warranted on your car. All reputable mechanics will notify you before doing any repairs and will inform you of any parts that could require repairs in the immediate future.

Dealing with auto repairs can make you feel inadequate and powerless. It is frustrating for millions of people. You must do something because you don’t want to have this experience every time. Read this article to educate yourself on this important topic.

TIP! Look over the manual that came with your car. When you visit a car shop, mechanics will need to know particular information about your car.

When you are experiencing car trouble, you may not have to call a mechanic. Many situations can be self-remedied. If it is a basic issue, attending to the repair yourself could save a considerable amount of money.

TIP! Make sure all repair records are kept close. You may want to have them in the glove compartment, so you can get to them easily if you need an emergency repair.

Thoroughly review your car manual. When you do have to deal with a mechanic, you can show him the copy of the manual, which can help him. The manual may give you information to help you easily fix a problem.

What to do about Fan Clutch Repair

TIP! Mechanics should have ASE certification before you hire them. This certification guarantees that the mechanic has been tested and has more than two years of experience.

Anyone who has experienced car trouble know how much of a hassle it can be to get their vehicle fixed. It can be difficult to find a good auto repair service. You are in luck, however, as this information will help you next time you need to find a great mechanic.

TIP! Invest in high-quality battery chargers and keep them inside your car. People commonly experience dead batteries, making battery chargers good for helping stranded drivers.

Before allowing an auto shop to do repairs to your vehicle, ensure you are aware of the total cost. If you are unclear about certain things, clarification is needed before repairs are started. You don’t want to get the car back, only to be shocked at how much the repairs cost you.

TIP! Ask the tech if they’ve done work on your model and make of car before. If they say that they have, this should be a good indicator that they have some idea of what needs to be done to get your car back into shape.

You do not have to contact a mechanic every time your car has problems. Many situations can be self-remedied. If you would like to try it, you can research on the problem online. If it’s a quick repair to make, you can save yourself some cash by doing it yourself.

TIP! Go through your automobile’s manual and make sure to mark important pages. When you have to get repairs done on your car, you are going to need to be knowledgeable about your car’s information.

Tag the important pages in your vehicle manual. Do not hesitate to let your mechanic know about what you learned from the owner’s manual. You could even find the answer to a problem in your car manual and fix the problem yourself.

TIP! Each time you get your vehicle repaired, no matter what the reason, be sure you have a record of it. These past invoices can help the mechanic to diagnose your car if need be.

Every time your car is repaired, make sure you keep records of the event. If your car ends up with more problems later on, your mechanic will appreciate having access to your past records. Your car problems may be harder to find and you may have higher repair costs without the records.

TIP! Once an auto shop has made repairs to your car, test drive it to ensure they did a good job prior to paying them. If you don’t do this, you may not have the appropriate problem repaired.

Look out for obvious “red flags” when dealing with a new auto repair company. If they beat around the bush and act shifty, they may not be the one you want to work with. It is important to have full confidence in the competence of your mechanic. If you don’t, then move on to a better choice.

TIP! Try to get OEM parts for your car. Those are the original parts from the manufacturer.

Although it is not something people enjoy, cars do need repairs when there are problems with them. Use this information to help you make informed decisions and save money. The knowledge of working with a proven auto-repair service removes a lot of worry from an otherwise stressful process.

Tips You Should Know About 30-60-90K Mile Services

TIP! Make sure you often check the radiator. Run your car for a bit, turn off the engine and then open the hood.

When your car breaks down, your first priority should be to get it up and running again. Getting around in some areas of the country is impossible without a personal vehicle. However, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have your car fixed. Many simple repairs and maintenance procedures can be done by you.

TIP! You need to see if the mechanic has ever done work on the exact same type of car before. If they have, there is a better chance they can help resolve any issues you have.

Referrals are your best best when searching for a trustworthy mechanic. Can you get a recommendation from a friend or someone that you work with? You can find out about a mechanics quality of work, their price, and overall satisfaction. Avoid the mechanics who overcharged your friends or were not honest with them.

TIP! Familiarize yourself with your car’s manual. If you have to get an auto repair, the mechanics will need to know specifics from the manual that are unique to your car.

Consider using OEM parts. These parts are the same original parts designed by the manufacturer. While generics are much cheaper, they are not held to the same quality standards. It may cost you more in the end to use generic parts even though you save money now.

Bellflower 30-60-90K Mile Services

TIP! If your headlights don’t seem very bright, check them to see if they are clean. Headlights often accumulate grime and other debris during normal use.

Wiper blades are a very important component to your car. If your windshield wipers aren’t performing up to par, it may be time for new ones. You should replace wiper blades at least once a year or more often if you live in an area where rain is commonplace or if you notice your wiper blades are worn out.

TIP! Before having repairs, see if you can diagnose the problem. This may save you a ton of money in the long run by preventing you from being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic.

Be sure that you’re reminding yourself of oil changes when your vehicle requires one. You have to change it regularly to keep your car running smoothly. In the long run, omitting this important step could cost you thousands of dollars, and it could lead your vehicle to an early death.

TIP! Ask your mechanic if he has had experience working on your type of car. Cars can differ significantly, even if the general mechanical principles are the same.

Now, you know that you don’t always need mechanics and their high costs to fix many basic auto repair issues. In many cases, you can solve your car problems in your own driveway. Try these tips out, and get back to driving sooner than you may think!

Finding Help with Automotive Fuel System Service

A car is quite an important possession. Perhaps you are not very knowledgeable in the automotive field. If this is so, keep reading to find out about auto repair.

Ask any questions you have. What will they do to fix it? What is the problem? Preventing issues with your vehicle is an excellent way to save money.

TIP! Take the time to read your car manual and know the basics of how your car works. The auto repair shop people will ask you specific information about your car.

You don’t want rust to attack your car so take the time to wash it on a regular basis. Cars eventually rust, but you can put off the process by washing off chemicals or salt quickly. Protect your paint with good wax.

TIP! Do not leave valuable items in the interior of your car if you need to leave it at the repair shop. Your personal items can get in the mechanics way, and they may have to move them.

It is a good idea to use referrals to find a decent mechanic. Talk to anyone you know and get recommendations from them. Ask about the quality of the work, what it cost and what perks were offered. Their experiences can be a huge help.

TIP! You need a spare tire and jack with you all the time. Modern cars come equipped with them already.

Keep good records for your car’s history. It’s a good idea to place them in the vehicle you drive just in case you’re in need of repairs while you’re out and about. The auto mechanic can look at the records. They can diagnose issues quicker.

TIP! You should not send your vehicle to a repair shop without getting quotes from different places. Most shops are reliable but some mechanics will find additional repairs to charge you more.

Before paying your mechanic for any work done, make sure to take it for a short test drive first, to make sure everything is working as it should. A lot of people don’t try to drive their car first and they figure out the hard way that it wasn’t repaired later on.

TIP! Think about using a mechanic who works from home. If they’re experienced then they probably can do quality work and they don’t charge a lot either.

Check to see if the mechanic you are considering is familiar with your make and model of vehicle. While most vehicles are made in similar ways, a lot of the time things are fairly different under the hood. If you are not confident in a local mechanic, pay a little more to get an authorized dealer to work on the car.

TIP! Speak with friends about auto shop recommendations before you pick a shop. They have used mechanics before and can fill you in on their experiences.

As stated earlier, it is important for you to take care of your vehicle. Just knowing the basics is a big deal and can help keep the cost of repairs down. Use these tips and remember them next time your car is doing something strange or you have reason to worry.

Be sure to keep your car’s records. Put these records in the glove compartment in your car for easy access. The auto mechanic will need to refer to these records. This will allow them to figure out what the issues are quickly.

Keep a spare tire and jack in your trunk. If you purchase a new car, you should have these in your trunk. Having these items will allow you to change a tire and get back on the road quickly, which is helpful when you are stuck in a dangerous location. It’s far more convenient and less costly to take care of it yourself.

TIP! Check and make sure that your mechanic is familiar with working on your type of car. There can be a lot of differences between vehicles, even though the base components are similar.

Check around for a reputable mechanic by asking friends who are happy with their mechanic. They may have learned through experience but still be competent, and are likely to have a lower labor rate. Next time your car is in need of repairs, ask around for referrals for an unlicensed but fabulous mechanic.

TIP! Get together a kit for car repairs that you can keep in your vehicle. You will want to have the tools necessary to change a tire, and they likely came with the vehicle.

With these tips, you should be better equipped to handle any car repairs that creep up. Therefore, anytime you experience car problems, you should be able to fix them or be able to find a professional who can do this for you. Your car will run well for many years to come!
